GenWest stands in solidarity with people experiencing colonial violence. GenWest calls for an immediate permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

As a family violence organisation that is dedicated to ending violence, we want to publicly add our voice to the growing collective of social and community organisations that are calling for an end to colonial violence.

We condemn all forms of bigotry, including islamophobia and anti-semitism. We want any person of any background or belief to feel safe accessing family violence support from GenWest.

We extend our deepest sympathies to communities in Melbourne's west affected by colonial violence.

All women are entitled to a life lived in safety and free from violence.

Women and children are disproportionately impacted by war and violence. Tens of thousands of pregnant women in Gaza are being denied access to essential and life saving care.

Women and girls are primarily and increasingly targeted by the use of sexual violence, including as a tactic of war. Women and girls who are displaced due to violence and war face sexual violence and high rates of infant and maternal mortality.

We are an organisation working towards gender equity, so that everyone can lead healthy and safe lives, free from violence and oppression. We support the UNFPA’s calls for greater investment in services to tackle gender-based violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan.

We acknowledge the impact of colonisation, violence and war and the effect this has on women and children - including those in Melbourne's west.

We recognise the harms inflicted by ongoing colonial violence on First Nations and Indigenous communities in Australia, and across the world.

We stand in solidarity with people all over the world who are experiencing the impacts of colonial violence.

We are calling for the health, wellbeing and safety of civilians in Gaza experiencing colonial occupation, violence and war.
