About the Sunrise Program
GenWest facilitates health and social disability groups in Melbourne's west – also known as the Sunrise Program.
Sunrise Social Groups are groups for women, gender diverse people and/or nonbinary folk, who have a disability, chronic health issues and/or mental health challenges.
The groups support participants to:
- Build friendships and a support network.
- Get information about staying healthy and build their confidence.
- Find out about local services and connect to their community.

GenWest is currently looking at revitalizing the Sunrise Program. We are seeking feedback and ideas from women, non-binary and gender diverse people with a disability and/or chronic health conditions including mental health.
Join our disability community consultation groups!
We'll ask questions like:
- What’s missing in Melbourne's west for people with disabilities?
- What would you like to see more of?
- Who do you think is missing out?
We welcome expressions of interest from:
- women, non-binary or gender diverse people who are comfortable in a women-centred space;
- who have a disability, chronic health and/or mental health condition; and
- live, work or study in Melbourne’s west.
Where and when?
The following hybrid consultation sessions (in the inner West or online) are scheduled in May 2024:
- Disability Community Consultation - Tuesday 28th May, 10.30am-12pm
- LGBTQIA+ Disability Community Consultation - Thursday 30th May, 10.30am-12pm
