This afternoon we held a Special General Meeting to vote on changes to the constitution, which included a name change and expansion of client and member cohorts.
Outcome Of Vote
The event was held online with 37 of WHW members in attendance.
For all proposed changes to pass we required 75 percent of members in attendance to vote for the change.
We are excited to announce that 97.3 percent of members voted in favour of the first Special Resolution and 94.6 percent of members voted in favour of the second Special Resolution, which means the organisation will be changing its name to GenWest.
Gender Justice And Change
This is a historic moment for the organisation, our feminism and for the communities we seek to serve. It reflects the significant changes occurring across the sector and takes us one step closer to being a more accessible, inclusive, and diverse organisation.
Launching The New Brand And Operating As GenWest
Our aim is to launch the new brand at our 2021 Annual General Meeting. However, to proceed with changing the name of the organisation, there are many logistical elements that need to occur. In the meantime, we will continue to operate as Women’s Health West (WHW). We also encourage you to sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date with further announcements about the launch of our new name and brand.
This is an exciting time for WHW, and we are so grateful to the many people who have been part of leading and supporting the organisation to this point. We know gender equity cannot be achieved if we do not simultaneously advocate to dismantle other forms of oppression and discrimination. By taking these steps, we hope to help create a more equal and inclusive world.
