About the groups
Sunrise Social Groups are groups for women, gender diverse people and/or nonbinary folk, who have a disability, chronic health issues and/or mental health challenges.
The groups support participants to:
- Build friendships and a support network.
- Get information about staying healthy and build their confidence.
- Find out about local services and connect to their community.
What we do
GenWest supports social groups in getting together for social connection and to plan what they'd like to do together. Social things we've done in the past include:
- Having a BBQ in the park
- Visiting the Zoo
- Beauty therapy & massage
- Arts and crafts
We often have guest presenters who speak to us about things like:
- Health and wellbeing
- Managing anxiety and depression
- Building healthy relationships
- Safety at home and in the community
- Services in the community.
How to get involved
The Sunrise Program is currently on hold, and we are not running Sunrise groups right now. We are planning a new Program model based on 2024 community consultations. Stay tuned for updates. Feel free to reach out to register your interest for any future offerings.
