Our comprehensive training module on Equitable Disaster Management in Urban Settings is designed for paid and volunteer community-facing staff working across disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
Build the knowledge and skills needed to support diverse communities to navigate the complexities of disaster preparedness, response and recovery in urban settings with an intersectional lens, focusing on gender and culturally diverse sensitivities. The session will explore evidence-based strategies to apply intersectional thinking to individual practice, organisational processes, and system improvement.

- You will reflect on personal experiences and current understanding. Dive deep into your own experiences in supporting urban communities with disaster preparedness, response and recovery, gaining valuable insights that will inform your future actions.
- You will understand the barriers faced by migrant women experiencing disasters in urban settings. Explore the barriers faced by urban migrant women and their communities during disasters, leveraging a culturally safe and gendered lens to enhance disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
- You will build your capacity to address these barriers in a culturally sensitive manner. Build your capacity to meet the diverse needs of migrant and refugee communities affected by disasters, fostering healing and resilience.
- You will identify systemic barriers and opportunities to increase access to support. Learn how to amplify community voices and identify opportunities to address inequities and advocate for meaningful change.
