This program supports refugee and migrant women and their families affected by climate change, emergency, and disaster situations.
It does this by bringing together community members, giving people and opportunity to share their stories and resilience and supporting people to access services that support their preparedness, response and recovery.
How we work
In all our climate resilience work we use our Peer-to-Peer delivery model. This means we:
- Work with a culturally competent and bilingual workforce
- Respond in a culturally appropriate and gender-responsive way
- Partner with community leaders and cultural groups
- Use connections based on commonality of language, culture and lived experience
- Build trust through long term engagement
- Focus on community capacity building
Maribyrnong
We provide flood recovery support for women and their families affected by the 2022 floods in Maribyrnong.
We focus on supporting refugee and migrant women and their families due to the compounding impact of disaster on people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Wyndham & Melton
We support local communities to help improve climate resilience and disaster preparedness in Melton & Wyndham.
We focus on supporting refugee and migrant women and their families by adequately preparing for climate change and future disasters.
Health & Wellbeing
One of the core purposes of our climate resilience work is to enhance health and wellbeing in our local communities and prevent family and gender-based violence before it occurs.
